How the Vane Damper Works

The vane damper generates resistance through internal rotary movement. When the shaft rotates, the vane inside the damper moves together and pushes silicone oil through the internal flow path. This creates damping torque and slows down the closing movement.

In many applications, the vane damper provides damping in one direction and almost no resistance in the opposite direction. This makes it suitable for products where the lid needs to open easily but close slowly.

Because the damping effect is closely related to product structure, the damper should be matched according to lid weight, hinge design, rotation angle, closing speed, and installation clearance.

Installation and Design Notes

For better damping performance, the assembly clearance between the damper and the matching part should be controlled properly. If the clearance is too large, the damping effect may become unstable.

The vane damper is designed for motion control, not for mechanical stopping. A separate stopper or structural limit should be used if the product requires a final stop position.

Before batch production, sample testing is recommended to confirm torque, closing time, working angle, and actual performance in the final product.
